Tod Baker has bought a second hand bike which has a wheel magnet and wireless sensor fitted to it; he wants to know how to tell which computer they will work with? We give him our suggestions.
Question:
I bought a used bike with a wireless computer sensor on the front wheel & fork but the previous owner did not know where the computer was. How can I find the computer that is compatible?
Hi Tod.
I wouldn’t waste my time trying to find out because buying a computer to match the sensor will cost the same as buying a new computer as the new one will come with a sensor and wheel magnet any way. I’m fairly sure you can not buy just the computer on its own; they don’t sell them that way.
The wheel magnet is just a magnet and is nothing special, the sensor will probably only work with one manufacturers computer, look on the inside face of the sensor for a makers name, if there are no markings then give up and go buy a nice new computer with pulse, speed, distance, altitude and all the other things you want from a bike computer.
The money you have saved buying a used bike should help to buy a good computer!

I would just buy the computer CM204. I’d say it will do the job sufficiently.
