There is really only one kind of bike sock, short and white, but since the advent of mountain biking, bike socks have changed colour and even riders like 6 times Tour de France winner, Lance Armstrong, has been spotted wearing black bike socks, a few years ago this would have caused a scandal in the old fashioned world of road cycling.

Years ago bike socks were made of cotton or nylon; they were not comfortable after some races and washes and would probably go baggy and flat in the wind. Once you had ridden in the rain a few
times they were never again white but grey and would soon end up in the dustbin. Modern bike socks are made of new breathable materials that are comfortable to wear, hold their shape and there colours.

the winter stop your trainings.
The best thing about modern bike socks is that they keep your feet cool in hot weather, they also cut down on friction which is caused by movement between the foot, the sock and the sole of the shoe. Most of the cycle clothing manufacturers make socks, but you should look for the ones with a ventilated sole, De Feet, Pearl Izumi, Nike, Gore, Adidas etc. there are many and now many colours, not just boring old white and of course you can get the same ones as your heroes wear in the professional races with the team sponsors names on.
