Bicycle Seats, Are You All Sitting Comfortably?

The bicycle seat is a very important; if you are not comfortable you will not enjoy your bike ride and probably not do it again.

If you don’t ride a bike very often then you should buy a bike saddle with gel in it.

For a racing cyclist who rides his bike more often then he will be looking at a thinner bike saddle and a lighter saddle with alloy or titanium rails and possibly no padding and just carbon to sit on.

For someone who was not used to it, it would kill them.

The first saddle was made of wood and then a English bike rider asked his father , who was a horse saddle maker to make him a bike saddle from leather, and for a long time all race cyclists used a Brooks saddle.

The problem with the brooks was as it got older or wet it drooped in the middle and the leather cracked.

Cinelli started to make a plastic base saddle with leather over it, this didn’t have all the problems of the all leather bicycle saddle and this is how all saddles are now.

Bicycle saddles now are made with either a plastic base or carbon it is then covered with thin leather road bike pro saddleand may have gel between and some saddles have a slot in the top for comfort.

Cheaper saddles are made with steel rails, more expensive are made with alloy or titanium.

There are many different makers of bicycle saddles, so you have to try a few before you find the one that suits you.
