Sci Con Bike Box

Dave Roberts wants to get away from the bad weather in his home country of Canada. He has read our review of the Sci Con hard case, but wants to buy bike transportation for a little less money. He has seen the Aero Comfort Plus also from Sci Con and would like hear what we think.

Question:
You have reviewed the hard case from Sci Con but it is too costly at over $1000.00 here in Canada. The next best thing is the Sci Con Cycle Bag 2010 Aero Comfort PLUS Soft Bicycle Case. The saddle stays on and the bars stay tight. It looks like a CLOSE second to the hard case and it more easily fits into a variety of vehicles. Your opinion please, I am buying real soon.

Hi Dave.

The Sci Con hard case bike box is a beautiful piece of work, but as you mention it is not cheap, but will last you a life time, air handlers allowing! The Aero comfort Plus is a great option as it gives good protection with in strong nylon which shouldn’t tear.

The box has an internal frame which keeps the whole thing solid, there is lots of padding and the wheels have their own separate padded pockets. The shape of the bag/box helps it fit most vehicles and the carrying straps and wheels help shifting it around.

The bag its self weighs 7.7 kgs, which added to your bike weight leaves you room to add clothing etc.

It’s a strong bag, maybe not as strong as the box, but if the baggage handlers know it’s a bike then you would hope they would take more care of it.

If you can’t afford the hard case then I would go for the Aero Comfort Plus.
Go for it Dave!
