jonathan,
I am fortunate enough to have them all, Sram Red, Dura Ace 7800, 7900, DI2,
Campy Super Record 11, Sram Red front derailer ownly trims or fine tunes in one direction and one position only! The front deraileer is a bit fragile, the cassettes are awesome, Of all the brands Dura Ace including DI2 shifts the best of all brands under load but only if you use dura ace cranks, Dura Ace Brakes stop much quicker with better modulation than all of them, although the campy super record has improved dramatically over the record 10. The DI2 shift is perfect! Even shimano staes its ok to cross chain ie large cahinring front and rear with 7900 ,the DI2 front derailer even self trims as you shift the rear although it does not work well with other cranks, I had a Zip Vuma Quad Compac Crank that it would not shift well at all. Best value for the buck in order would be Dura Ace 7800, Sram Red, 7900, Campy Super 11, Shimano DI2, Dont try DI2 unless your ready to buy it !, By the way the battery weighs the same as a power bar, and I have about 700 hours on the first battery charge so far. Campy is unique and is especially cool on a European Bike, Colango Pinarello, ect. The shifters are unique can be a bit strange if you are used to Sram, Shimano.
Hope that helps
Cheers

I setup my Specialized Roubaix Pro with a complete SRAM RED gruppo. After one year of riding this setup I can say overall it works superb. Front shifting is flawless. Rear shifting also flawless. Even with jamming up a hill out of the saddle the shifting is perfect...no missed shifts. SRAM RED derailleurs and shifters are fantastic.

As for the rest of the gruppo... Stay away from the RED cassette. It is always creaking and feeling like it is moving on the freehub.I have Mavic Kysrium SL's. I down graded to the SRAM force Cassette and it is perfect. I also dont like the SRAM chains. They are sloppy and stretch fast and are too expensive. I use a Shimano Ultegra 6700. It is perfectly matched with the SRAM cogs and chain rings.

As for the RED cranks. They are very stiff and give you great acceleration and climb very well. I have the black box ceramic BB.

The brake calipers are excellent and give you great control on fast descents. I am still on my original pads with barely any sign of wear.

The cabling is a little stretchy i must admit. but once they stopped no problems. I would try some Yokozuna's as an upgrade.

No gruppo is totally perfect. But this gruppo Costs less,Weighs less and out performs Campy and Shimano. I made the correct descision for my bike.

One of my bikes has SRAM Red, another has Dura-Ace 7800 and the other has Campy Record 10 speed. I am used to all three and have never had a problem with the Dura-Ace. It shifts with a very positive feel, never misses shifts and has needed no adjustments. I can not say that about either of the other two. I don't know about the cable routing on the Madone, but if I were choosing I would go with Dura-Ace 7900 unless it is not as good as the 7800.

I have used both on my madrone and mixed feelings on both. The red shifts great on front , but had problems on back. The cable setup is important on both of these systems. The cable setup was causing problems on the back shifting should use one of the premium cables. I switched to 7900 , but the front shifting is not dura ace quality. The rear shifting works fine.
I considering upgrading my other bike will try the red again.
I hate the shifters levers on the 7900. The front 7900 doesnot shift nearly as fast as my 7700 does. My decision is whether to upgrade to 7800 or red. The front derailleur on the red is lighter than the force but if you race the force derailleur does not bend as easy as the red which is a known problem.
