Odometer Wheel Size?

Dean Sims has a new wireless bike odometer and needs to know what measurement to log into it. We run through which is the best way to work this out.

Question:

I have an ascent wireless 4-line display. Does anyone know the setting for a standard road bike for the odometer? I think I have 26 wheels. Thank You.

Hi Dean.

base_mediaThere should be a list of wheels sizes in the instruction book, but sometimes these can be a little bit out. I would guess that your bike has 700c wheels, which is slightly larger than a 26 inch, and all measurements do depend on which size of tire you have fitted, there is a big circumference difference between a 19 mm tire and a 25mm.

The best way to find the exact wheel measurement for your bike computer is to mark a line on the floor at the valve when it is at the bottom of its circle. Roll out the wheel for one revolution and then mark when the valve reaches the bottom of its revolution again. Then measure between the two marks, this is the number you need to put into your odometer.

I would guess that if you are using a 700c wheels with 23 mm tires it should be around 2096. Check this first with the instruction manual and then follow the instructions to load the information.

This should sort you out?
