What to do about those Pedals

Abby Eyre has found a bargain bike on e-bay; the problem is that it will come with "old fashioned" pedals with clips. The question is what to do, keep the pedals or get some new clipless ones? Easy answer (we think), you have to keep up with style and be modern!

Question:
Hi! I just bought a used road bike on e-bay and I see that the pedals are the clip type for shoes. Would you suggest that I keep that pedal and get shoes, or change it out for the other types? I am getting back into cycling, so I am kind of a beginner.

Hi Abby,

You have two options here, either get rid of them and buy a new pair of cycling shoes and a pair of clipless pedals now, or as you are on the comeback trail it could be a good idea to keep the standard pedals and ride with trainer shoes until you get used to the bike. Then when you think you feel comfortable on your ride then go for the new shoes and the "modern" clipless pedals.

Your next problem is; which pedals and shoes to buy, maybe have an other look on e-bay?
