Eric Sandrow wants a new bike, he has a problem, he likes the look of the Pinarello FP5, but he can't get one to fit his height of over six feet. He also likes the Trek Madone and it fits him, so we say that the Trek is the bike for him. A proper fit is more important than style. Well just!
Question:
I am looking at purchasing a new bike (Trek Madone 5.5 or 6.5 vs. Pinarello FP5). I am 6'2 and about 265.
I am an avid climber and average ride is 50-60 miles. I have ridden the trek and it's a great ride - though I think I was on a size to big, but I can't find the Pinarello built that I can ride.
Has anybody ridden both? What did you think?
Hi Eric,
Yes we have ridden both bikes, but none of us are 6' 2" or 265 lbs. The Trek Madone rides very well, both bikes have the same sort of carbon feel, they are both rigid at the right times and comfortable at those moments when you need a little flexibility.
OK so Pinarello are also ridden by lots of top riders, the Pinarello also has that Italian style, but if you get a better fit with the Trek that is the one for you. Comfort and a perfect fit are the most important points of your new bike. If the glove fits then wear it!
