Its time for Warren to replace his K2 hardtail, he wants the same geometry as his old bike, we give him some pointers, but he will have to get out there and do some homework and have a good look around.
Question: I using a K2 bayside hardtail frame, I want a new frame with the same geometry of K2. any suggestions.
Hi Warren,
You have a K2, nice bit of machinery; I can see why you would want to replace it with something similar, good choice.
Your problems start when you decided that you wanted a new frame, choosing a new frame is hard enough, alloy, steel or carbon, it’s a hard decision, and then you’ve got colours etc. You have decided that you want the same geometry as your old frame, that’s easier said than done, all the bike manufacturers have measurement charts on there web-sites or in the catalogues. The other thing you could do is get a tape measure and measure all the bikes until you find one the same size or maybe not.
What I would suggest is to get something you like that’s nearly the same as you’ve got, then with the correct size stem and adjustment with the saddle you should get the same geometry, in needs a bit of work but it is achievable. I once a friend who had two frames made exactly the same, but he said they never felt the same, he measured them and they were both exactly the same geometry, but rode differently. Good luck Warren, probably best to start with K2, as they will all probably be similar to your frame, I hope you find what you are looking for.
