Mirror, Mirror on your Bike

Dennis wants our advice on cycling mirrors; he has seen a few on the internet and would like to know which we would advise and what other riders out there are using? We take a look at his choices and make a couple of suggestions of our own. We don't see many mirrors out there, but they could be a good idea?
Question:
Thank you for the many helpful hints and product evaluations. I realize you get many repeats but the topic of road bike mirrors I have not read so this is my Question: Which mirror type is the choice of the seasoned and experienced roadies out there? Please comment on the following two very different approaches:
Bike Peddler Take a Look Original Cyclist Eyeglass Mirror Rectangle (amazon) and panaview.
I am a 62 year young recreational road bike cyclist,

| Panaview |
completed first century last Sept.
Never used a mirror.
Thanks,
Dennis.
Hi Dennis,
Sorry for the delay answering your question, but we have had lots of questions recently and as you know there has been an Easter holiday too. If you drive then using a mirror is like second nature, but it is strange to get used to and for others to see you with one, but your safety is the most important.

Dennis, there are quite a few mirrors available, the Panaview fits to the forks on the bike and I would say it sticks out quite far, it also is fitted with a LED light, which is great for safety, but the mirror is quite obtrusive. If you want to fit a mirror to your bike then the Sprintech Road Bike Mirror looks a better choice as it fits into your handle bar ends and doesn't stick out as much.

The Bike Peddler Take a Look Original Cyclist Eyeglass Mirror Rectangle looks like a better option as its small and shouldn't get in the way too much. The Take a Look Compact Bicycle Eyeglass Mirror is also a good idea, both of these fit to your glasses so you can maneuver your head to see what's going on behind you. The other good option is the Helmet fitting mirrors from either Cycleaware or Blackburn, these go onto your helmet, which could be convenient as you don't need to fit it for every ride.

From the ones you like I would say the Bike Peddler Take a Look seems to be well made and designed. Let us know what you decide and we hope you enjoy your Century cycling.
