Larry has a titanium frame and wants to know how to clean it properly; we go through what he should use to get his bike like new. Its very simple really, just wash the bike; it's not difficult to clean a bike frame
Question: what is the best way/cleanser to clean a Ti bike frame?
Hi Larry,
All frames, including titanium should be washed with warm soapy water. Wash your bike by hand with a sponge and washing up liquid (the stuff you wash the plates with at home) in warm water, and then dry every thing down with a soft cloth,
Before you do this you need to degrease the chain and cassette and clean all the oily dirt away from the chain rings, degreaser is also great for getting anything sticky off the bike, like any spilt drink etc. but you have to be careful to keep the degreaser away from any of the bearings, hubs, head set and bottom bracket as the degreaser will take all the grease away from the bearings leaving them dry. After you have degreased the chain and cleaned all those very dirty parts of the bike then it is the time to wash the bike with the water.
If this doesn't clean the frame then use some kind of alcohol, but be careful not to spread it around to much as it could affect the decals. We hope this helps you get a nice clean bike?
