Michael wants to know the difference between a bike fitted with 29er wheels, like the Specialized Crosstrail and a bike with 700c wheels like the Giant Cypress LX. We explain the differences between the wheels and agree that those two bikes are well worth looking at
Question: First I would like to thank you for all your insightful comments and reviews, greatly appreciated. Can you tell me is there really a difference between a 29R bike like a Specialized Crosstrail and a Giant Cypress LX with 700c wheels. I know the components vary but what about the total ride ability of these type of bikes?
Hi Michael,
The wheel size of a 29er and a 700c are not much different, but the big difference is the size of the tires that you can fit to the wheels. The 29er can take a large, nobly off-road tire, which is great if you want to go up mountains in the country on tracks or trails or out in the wild country. On the other hand you can fit some really small, fast tires to 700c wheels for road work.
