What is a comfort bike? Well it's just like a normal bike, but with the emphasis on the comfort. A comfort bike is basically a mountain bike with an upright position, low gears and a comfortable saddle. The angles of the frame should be more -laid back- to take more of the lumps and bumps out of the ride.
The handle-bars on a comfort bike should not be straight, they should have more of a rise to them, to lift your hands higher and the gear shifters will be fitted on the bars near the brake levers so you don't need to more your hands from the bars.
Lower gearing is very important to make your ride easier, your not in a hurry, your just out on your comfort bike to enjoy the fresh air and the countryside. You probably will not want to go up any mountains, but low gears can take the strain out of any ride.
For a very comfortable "comfort bike" you might want suspension forks and suspension seat pin, these will soften any road or dirt track you might want to go down, these work like the suspension in your car, with springs or gas and oil damping for a smooth bump free ride.
Comfort is the most important thing; so forget about aerodynamics, it's an upright position, low gears and a smooth ride.
