Pulse Monitor Chest Strap Problems
Jeff Clark is having problems with his pulse monitor chest strap; he’s not getting any signal. There could be a few different reasons for this, we run through causes and hopefully some cures
Question: The chest strap does not work even after installing a new battery. I have wet the contacts but it is not sending out a signal.
Hi Jeff,
OK, you’ve changed the battery in the chest strap, so we can forget that. Have you changed the battery in the watch unit, maybe it’s too old and not powerful enough to receive the signal. Do you know someone with a similar watch unit that you can test the chest strap with? This would show that the chest strap or your watch unit is to blame, then you can take it from there. Try cleaning the chest strap, sometimes they can get “gunged up” with dried sweat and other skin bits, give it a bit of a rinse and a good wipe down, maybe that will do it.
If none of the above work I would take it to your bike shop or where you bought it from, and see what they say as maybe its broken, if its not too old they might replace it with a new one under the guarantee. If it old now might be the time to get a new one, there are many to choose from.
