Bora Ultra Two now or wait?

Pry Gnana is thinking of buying the Bora Two deep section carbon wheels from Campagnolo, but he is worried that they may be out of date soon and be superseded by a “Two Way Fit” version. We can’t find out, but we try to put his mind at rest.

Question: Hi,
I would like to know if I should get the Campy Bora Ultra two now or
wait to see if Campy will have a 2 way fit version of it. I have a
Kuota Kalibur road setup with Super Record 11 group and Campy Shamal
Ultra 2 way on it now.

Do not want to spend excess of $5K on a set of wheels and find out
they have something better in few months.

Thanks
Pry G.

Hi Pry.

Ah! Now this is a difficult question and its one that comes up more and more these days, it’s a problem that is not particular to cycling equipment, computers, cameras, cars etc.

I’ve had a good look at the new stuff from Campagnolo, but they don’t say if or when they might up-date the Bora carbon wheel set. It is very possible that they would manufacture a “two way fit” version of their wheels, but when I don’t know.

Front Bora Two

If you are thinking of buying the Campagnolo Bora Two tub wheels then you are going for the lightness and high performance of tubular tires. This is the only option if you want the best wheels available and these wheels must be amongst the top wheels in the world.

What I’m trying to say is that maybe Campagnolo will make a “two way fit” version in the not too distant time, but it will be very difficult to improve on the present Bora Two tub wheel set. If you can justify spending the money on those wheels then you will not be disappointed with the performance of the Bora’s.

The Bora Two’s have carbon hubs with oversize alloy axles and the hub has a larger gear side flange, deep section carbon rims with dynamic balancing with differentiated spokes, 21 spokes in the rear wheel and 18 in the front. Very aerodynamic and light, weighing in at 565 gram for the front and 745 gram for the rear, which is great for a deep section wheel set.

Buy them and hope Campagnolo doesn’t change them too soon.
