Titanox in Bike Saddles

Jozsef Kardos wants to know the difference between Titanox and normal titanium, we find the science behind it all and some nice saddles at the same time, and Selle San Marco uses TitanoX

Question: What’s the difference between titanium saddle rails, and titanox saddle rails?

Titanox is titanium aluminide (TiAl) based alloy powders (called Titanox Powders). This process has the potential of producing TiAl based alloy powders at lower cost than those produced using conventional processes. Titanox Powders into bulk solid materials and shaped products using major powder metallurgy processes such as hot isostatic pressing, hot pressing and pressure less sintering and secondary processing techniques such as forging.

That’s the science, I guess you are possibly talking about Selle San Marco saddles, who use TitanoX for some of their saddle rails, basically its light, the same as Titanium, but cheaper to manufacture.

Titanium is light and strong, but its problem is its cost, so Titanox brings the price down making it more affordable with similar attributes.
