Question: I am looking for a strong set of road wheels for training, and crits. i am 6ft 2in and 195 lbs. i like to sprint and practice a lot of hills, but I am very good at it.

Hi Mike,
If you want a strong responsive pair of wheels, then talk to your local wheel builder, he will advise you on what he thinks would be the best option for you and what you want to do with your wheels. Someone of your size should go for a pair of wheels built with 36 spokes crossed three times, a good pair of hubs, Campagnolo, Shimano or Mavic. The rims should be Mavic Open Road or Reflex.

If you are looking to get a pair of factory built wheels then the Mavic Ksyrium Equipe or Ksyrium Elite are very strong wheel sets that perform well in any conditions. Another very strong pair of wheels is the Roval Pave SL wheel set from Specialized, they use the E5 seamless rims, DT spokes in 20/24 lacing pattern and a large flange hub for strength.

I hope this helps you get the wheels of your dreams?
