I don't know if you've done it before, but you should read about the keo pedals here. You havent' said what cleats were using on your old pedals, but the problem might be the read keo cleats. I'm a bit confusing with your question sorry

I got them same pedals second hand and have chewed through the cleats. When I went to the store the keo cleats wouldn't work but the spd-sl shimano cleats worked perfectly. The only ones I tried were the black ones. the spd-sl cleats are at most bike shops. Hopefully you go to one that's friendly enough to let you check that they'll work before you buy them.

I have a set of PD-1056 Pedal NOS in a box my Dad had for years. It has SM-SH24 Cleats in the Box with the pedals. I have a couple of pairs of these out of my Dads old stuff. I am putting one set on Ebay, or email me if you want a set.

I have two pairs of these pedals, and used them for a number of years. I retired them in favor of SPD's. I just bought new shoes and have to now go back to them, and appreciate the info provided. I will let you know which I buy, and which work out. The cleats shouldn't be that much, so I'll probably buy one of each, black and red....to be continued...

I bought 2 pairs of second hand Shimano pedals 1056 in the spring to put on my old steel bike that had regular mtb spd pedals. I used the red look cleats and they work just great! I rode in the steel 35 pounder in a group ride with acg speed of 22 mph and dropped people and still had legs to sprint in. The pedals added a new dimension to the bike!
