MTB to Road Bike, Is It Possible?
Atkin has a mountain bike, but he wants a road bike. What he wants to know from us is if it is possible for him to change his mountain bike to a road bike. We give him some advice on a possible change or not to bother and just buy a road bike; it would be easier and maybe cheaper
Question: Dear moderator…..
–how can i make my mtb became a road bike, can i?
Hi Atkin,
To answer your question, well sort of. The best thing to do is to change the tires for a set of smooth road tires for MTB’s. There are many of them on the market, at lots of different prices, so go down to the bike shop and see what they have on offer.
You could also change the handle bars for road drop handle bars; they might fit your handle bar stem, but check first before you buy. If you change the handle bars then you will need to change the brake and gear levers, this could make the transition quite expensive.

I suggest you change the tires and leave it at that, most mountain bike Pro’s take a set of smooth (slick) tires with them when they race away from home, so that they can train on the road, give this a try and then if you want to change everything else then look buying a road bike it might work out cheaper than changing everything on your mountain bike. Good luck.
