How do I work upon improving my VO2 max ?? What other exercise I should do to become biologically more fit for cycling?
Hi Pankaj,
Power interval training is your answer, pick a climb that is easy enough to ride sat down, but hard enough to make you try very hard. Split the climb into ride able sections and ride as hard as you can. The best way to achieve improvements is to use a pulse monitor then you know that the efforts are worth it.

Pankaj, any cardiovascular exercise – running,swimming will help VO2 max. As far as available workout time and ease of workout, running seems to work best. Make sure your body type can take the pounding of running. All you need is some shorts and running shoes. You can run anywhere. Running shoes and equipment can fit in any bit of luggage and is quickly packed. It’s easier to run in bad weather than ride. Specially if you like to keep your pride and joy – your bike, dry and clean. It’s easy to get to an anaerobic state thus increasing your VO2 max,running.
