Sportive Reconnaissance on DVD: The Trilogy
We have reviewed DVD's on Bikecyclingreviews and we have written about Sportive events. Well, now we can combine both as Cyclefilm Productions have put together a great box set of three DVD's covering "The Big Three" Sportive events in Europe; in Italy the "Maratona dles Dolomites", in Spain the "Quebrantahuesos" and in France "La Marmotte". After the l'Etape du Tour these are the monuments of the Sportive season and now you can see what they are all about before you enter.
CSC Overcoming Film Review
After our review of cycling DVD’s we thought we had better have a look at one! Overcoming is a Danish made documentary on the very successful CSC team in the 2004 season, the film follows the ups and downs of the team, there a lot of downs and not so many ups.

You might have missed an important stage of this years Tour de France or couldn’t see your favorite Classic because you were at work or the TV station didn’t show it, well you could always buy the DVD.
Professional Cycling Teams
From there a rider would more on to a bigger club, possibly with a sponsor and help when at a race from older members who have done it all before. Then he or she, if they are good enough, could be picked to ride for a development team that could lead to a professional career.
Euskaltel-Euskadi cycling team
Euskaltel-Euskadi is the Basque national cycling team and is strongly supported at the Tour de France by their orange clad fans.

T-Mobile cycling team, 2004 year was a bit of a top heavy team with too many stars, in 2005 they have slimed down a little, but still have stars, the main one being ex-Tour winner, Jan Ullrich.
Saunier Duval-Prodir cycling team
Saunier Duval-Prodir is a team of very good all-round riders; they have Leonardo Piepoli for the mountains and hilly stage races. The others will do what they can and should show well, but could be getting a hard time.
Rabobank Cycling Team
Rabobank have the current World Champion, Oscar Freire, on their books, so should do well in the Classics, with other stars, Michael Boogerd and Erik Dekker to back him up.
Quick Step cycling team
Quick Step is one of the best teams for the Classics, but not as strong as it used to be since the retirement of the “Lion of Flanders” Johan Museeuw.
Phonak cycling team
Phonak nearly didn’t make it into the Pro-Tour after the problems year 2004 with four negative drug tests, but they are there and they are a good team.
Liquigas-Bianchi cycling team
Mario Cipollini maybe getting old, but the “Lion King” will roar again for Liquigas-Bianchi, although not as much as before now that Petacchi wins all the bunch sprints.
Liberty Seguros Astana WURTH Cycling Team
Liberty Seguros is arguably the strongest team from Spain, with the three time Vuelta winner Roberto Heras off of the team, and the excellent transfer of Alexandre Vinokourov from T-Mobile, make this as a team for the tours.
Lampre-Caffita cycling team
Lampre-Caffita’s young rider Damiano Cunego last year beat his team leader, Gilberto Simoni in the Giro d’Italia and won the Tour of Lombardy, he is now the top man, He is only 23 years old so has a long future ahead of him and is a big favourite with the fans.
Illes Balears cycling team
Illes Balears big hope for this season will be new signing, Alejandro Valverde. In year 2004 he won many races for his old team Kelme, one-day races and was also up they’re in La Vuelta. Mancebo, Guitierrez and Karpets are also strong riders,
Gerolsteiner cycling team
The other German team, Gerolsteiner have always been in T-Mobiles shadow, last year Davide Rebellin won at Liege, Amstel and Fleche-Wallonne all in the one week, he will be seen in the more hilly Classics.
Francaise des Jeux cycling team
A young team of French and Australians, no hope for the overall place in any of the Major Tours, but could take the Green points jersey with sprinters McGee, Casar or Cooke.
Fassa Bortolo cycling team
Alessandro Petacchi is the fastest man in the peloton at the moment and his Fassa Bortolo team are there to lead him out more victories this season.
Domina Vacanze cycling team
Domina Vacanze is not one of the big teams in the Pro-Tour. Gonchar is/or was one of the best time trialists around, but now is past his best.
CSC Professional Cycling Team
Team CSC is becoming probably, the most important team to follow over the next years. It is managed by Bjarne Riis, who was once winner of theTour of France in 1996.
Credit Agricole cycling team
Credit Agricole achieves a lot with little investment, but saying that, 2005 will be tough for them in the Pro-Tour and may stretch there budget. Hushovd and Kirsipuu will win some sprints and Christophe Moreau will be trying to do something in the Tour de France, a high place is possible, but not much else.
Cofidis Cycling Team
The Cofidis team has been around since 1997 and has been very successful with riders like Frank Vandenbroucke and David Millar, but all went wrong with drug accusations and a withdrawal from racing last year, things should be better now as there has been a clearing out of the old staff and riders.
Bouygues Telecom Cycling Team
It could be said that Bouygues Telecom are only in the Pro-Tour to make up the numbers. There best rider is only 35th in the UCI rankings, Jerome Pineau gained this place with out any big wins. Other stars are, ex-World champ, Laurent Brochard, who must be at the end of his career along with other "old man" Didier Rous.
Davitamon Lotto cycling team
Davitamon-Lotto is probably the strongest Classics team, with winners as strong as Peter Van Petergem, Nico Mattan, Leon Van Bon and Axel Merckx.
