The current season in Europe is almost ended; this just means that La Vuelta (The Tour of Spain) is back. Alastair and me were at the stage 6 in Xativa (Valencia). Exactly 40Km away from the BCR office. So we wanted to show our readers some interior views about one of the big grand tours in the World....

Rabobank have the current World Champion, Oscar Freire, on their books, so should do well in the Classics, with other stars, Michael Boogerd and Erik Dekker to back him up. Phonak nearly didn’t make it into the Pro-Tour after the problems year 2004 with four negative drug tests, but they are there and they are a good team. Floyd Landis and Victor Hugo Peña have come to the team from U.S.Postal and should do something in one of the Tours. Perdiguero who won a Classic... 

Quick Step cycling team is one of the best teams for the Classics, but not as strong as it used to be since the retirement of the “Lion of Flanders” Johan Museeuw. Quick Step Pro Cycling Team The new Lion is Tom Boonen; this year he should win the Tour of Flanders or Paris-Roubaix.... 

Mario Cipollini maybe getting old, but the “Lion King” will roar again for Liquigas-Bianchi, although not as much as before now that Petacchi wins all the bunch sprints. Danilo Di Luca can win one-day races and short stage races. Garzelli, Pellizotti and Cioni will want to do something in the Tours... 

Liberty Seguros is arguably the strongest team from Spain, with the three time Vuelta winner Roberto Heras off of the team, and the excellent transfer of Alexandre Vinokourov from T-Mobile, make this as a team for the tours. Beloki was a regular on the podium at the Tour before his crash three years... 

The other German team, Gerolsteiner have always been in T-Mobiles shadow, last year Davide Rebellin won at Liege, Amstel and Fleche-Wallonne all in the one week, he will be seen in the more hilly Classics. Sprinter Hondo will win races and there hope for the overall is new signing, American Levi Leiphheimer....
