Is the Diamondback Wildwood the Best?

Sunchasin used to have a road bike, but now wants and needs a Hybrid bike for the comfort and the tires. He was going to buy a Diamondback Wildwood but was told that Trek and Specialized are better. We look at all three and decide that the Diamondback came out on top. These are our findings and what we think he should do

Was about to buy a diamondback wildwood but heard trek & specialized are better last bike was road bike but need hybrid for comfort for the tires suggestions on trek & specialized please?

Good name! Diamondback are good bikes, I used to ride one many years ago. The Diamondback Wildwood has many Shimano parts and sealed bearings along with suspension and comfortable angles on the aluminum frame, it’s a good bike for the price and as good as a Specialized or a Trek.

For the same price you could get the Trek Hybrid 7000, but it doesn’t have suspension so it’s not as good as the Diamond back. With a Specialized you would need to look at a Sirrus or a Vita, both are more expensive and at the bottom end of the range, where you are looking, they don’t have suspension.

Having looked at the Trek, Specialized and Diamondback Hybrid bikes at this price the Diamondback looks to come out as the best bike of the three as it has all the other have, plus suspension forks which is a real bonus for comfort and for safety on bumpy roads. Have a good look in all the local bike shops and do a good comparison between them all, ask if you can have a teat ride and don’t commit yourself until you have ridden them all and asked what bike the shop would recommend, they may have one of last years models with the same specifications at a better price that they need to shift out to make room for the 2009 bikes coming in, this is one of the best times to look for a new bike as long as you don’t want next years model, but do want a bargain.

At the price you are looking at there are a few to choose from, have you looked in the newspapers for a nearly new bike? Or on internet, even e-bay is worth a try. There are many people who by a new bike and a lot are Hybrid, because they think it’s a good idea, but they usually don’t stick at it and then want the bike out of the their garage, this is where you can get a bike that hasn’t seen many miles for a very good price.
