De Rosa or Giant?
Steve Reddish has a big problem, he has to choose between two bikes, it’s always a difficult decision between bikes, but the two he is looking at are quite similar, so the problem is even harder, we try to make his decision easier
Question: Im trying to choose between a two bikes to buy:
A De Rosa Vega Frame size 56, Campagnolo Centaur Components, Mavic Kysrium Elite wheels (bike is 3 years old) for $2300 Aussie
And a 1 year old Giant TCR 1 M/L 53.5cm with ultegra and American Classic CR – 420 wheels for $1900 Aussie. What do you reckon?? Regards Steve.
Hi Steve,
That’s a hard one you have there, but the age of the De Rosa goes against it as does the Campagnolo Centaur. One year old Shimano Ultegra wins over 3 year old Campagnolo Centaur, the wheels are very similar in weight etc. I would go for the De Rosa for Italian class and style, but Giant does have a lot of science behind it.
The Conclusion
I think it has to be the Giant, it’s younger and the equipment is better, maybe it’s not Italian, but it’s a pretty good bike, go for it!
