Which Computer for my Scott CR1?
Adam has bought a new Scott CR1 bike, just like our test bike, and wants our advice on which cycle computer he should get. We think he should get a Bike Specific Polar pulse monitor; they do everything that’s needed
Question: Well Sam, since you asked… I just bought a Scott CR1 and now would like a computer for my new ride. It doesn’t have

to be overloaded with features, just the basics. Cadence would be helpful too. I’ve heard there are now wireless models available now too. Can you point me in the right direction please?
Thanks again,
Adam.
Hi Adam,
Glad you got the Scott CR1, are you happy with it? It’s a great bike, I love riding mine, cant get enough of it.

You want a bike computer, well we think you should get a Polar heart rate monitor, one that has been designed for cycling, there are quite a few of them, but if you also want cadence then that cuts down your choices, which is a good thing as there are lots of them.

Our favorites are the Polar S720i and the S725, both of these heart rate monitors do lots of things including cadence as well as all the usual readings like; altitude, speed, distance, time, slope, heart rate, etc. you can also down load the information to your PC, both of these are brilliant and tell you everything. The only draw backs with them are that they are watch style and strap to the bars, if you only use them for cycling then this is pointless, the other problem is that they are not cheap!

The other Polar monitors that we like are the CS range that is specifically for bikes. We particularly like the CS600, it has everything you should need, plus a Power Output Sensor, but it is very expensive and probably more than you need. At a more reasonable price and nearly as good is the CS400, very similar functions to the S720 and S725 and at a similar price. Then there are the cheaper CS200 and CS200cad, good price, easily read data and they link to your PC, both are priced less than 200 dollars.

There are many more by polar and other manufacturers, but we like these the best. We have reviewed both of the S heart rate monitors on bikecyclingreviews, so have another look at what we said then, if you want more information on Polar then look at their web-site at www.polarusa.com.
Thanks for reading, Adam, and enjoy your Scott.
