Choose Between Trek, Giant or Schwinn
Richard Z wants our opinion on three comfort bikes from Trek, Giant and Schwinn. As always we have had a good look and give Richard our thoughts and tell him which one we prefer
Question: I am looking at three comfort bikes in my price range and would like your opinion. Trek Navigator 2.0, Giant Sedona LX, Schwinn Sierra GSD. Which one is lighter? Which is better quality? Thanks
Hi Richard,
Lots of people are getting interested in Comfort Bikes, so I’m sure your question will be interesting to other readers.
We will look at each bike separately and the give you our conclusions.
Trek Navigator 2.0
The Trek Navigator frame is made of Alpha Aluminum and has RST suspension forks, the equipment is a mixture of Shimano, SR, SRAM, Sunrace, Tektro, Bontrager and some un-named bits. This is for sure a Comfort bike as it has an upright position, comfortable saddle with suspension seat pin and suspension forks. Comes in three sizes and two colors.

Giant Sedona LX
Alloy frame again, with an upright position and suspension forks at the front and suspension seat pin at the saddle. There is more Shimano equipment on the Giant than the Trek and a few parts from Giant themselves. The suspension forks are from SR, but the best bit of equipment on the Giant is the brakes, they are Hayes MX-2 Disc brakes, powerful and sure. Five male sizes and two women’s sized versions are available.

Schwinn Sierra GSD
The Schwinn is very similar to the Giant, except that it uses more SRAM than Shimano, it also has Disc brakes, in the Schwinn’s case they are from Radius, just as nice as the Hayes. Adjustable stem and RST suspension forks along with suspension seat pin and comfortable saddle. SR Suntour chain set along with the SRAM gears makes this a very good bike.

Our Conclusions
We don’t like the Trek as much as the Schwinn and the Giant. This is to do with the Disc brakes as they are more responsive than the V brakes on the Trek. There is not much to choose between the Giant and the Trek, in the end the Giant could just get our vote because of the use of more Shimano. SRAM is as good as Shimano, but Shimano has more experience and been around longer, so we go for it.
So there you have it, go for the Giant, we like it the most.
