Carrying your Tools and Inner Tubes
Iain is one of regular readers and questioners and he has a good tip for carrying those bits and pieces on his bike, its very similar to the bottle cage bag from Sci-Con that we reviewed not long ago. We have another look at the Sci-Con bag and Iain’s suggestion of an old bottle cage
Question: Hi guys,
I read the newsletter about changing tyres, I have a great tip that I learned from a cycling friend. At one point in time I had a little bag under my saddle crammed with all the things to get me back on the road when I unfortunately and Inevitably get a puncture, this was not big enough so I had to go for another triangular shaped bag that fits in the corner of the frame under the saddle, this worked well for a little while until it began to become loose and was also scratching the frame.
The solution: What my friend had was simply a large water bottle filled with tools, two tubes, a repair kit and levers. Now I have the same, just fit a second water bottle carrier on your frame.
Hi Iain,
Iain wrote into us to ask if it was better to build up a bike or buy a complete one, what did you do in the end?
Your suggestion is a good and cheap way of transporting your inner tubes and tools on your bike. We like the idea, but the Sci-Con Tubo bag is much neater, it looks tidy and has a zip closing to keep all your stuff secure and dry. Check out the Sci-Con web-site for more information on all their tail bags as well as the Tubo bottle cage bag.
