Hi Guys. I had a mysterious clicking on my time trial bike and I also was convinced it was coming from somewhere in the transmission then I noticed that when I was out of the saddle, the noise disappeared. Voila! It was the saddle clamp. However, some while back on another bike, I had a similar noise which again I was convinced it was from the bottom bracket. That turned out to be the headset. Good luck in solving the problem.

I've had a click that could not be found and I replace the pedals and the click disappeared and another situation with the saddle clamp and seat post. A small amount out lube solved the problem.

I too experienced a click when climbing or sprinting. It seemed like the bottom bracket, but turned out to be from the pedals and shoes. I have several shoes that I alternate and my pedals are the older Look style with delta cleats. I get most noise with my Rocket 7s (right foot only) and have even changed cleats. I get a little noise with my Nikes and none with my Pearl Izumis, Lake, or Shimanos. The cleats are tight, so I suspect the problem to be the way the cleat interfaces with the sole. Don't ask why I have so many shoes.
