A Happy Cyclist Customer
Dean Crosby was having problems with his new bike it was causing him to get pain in his back and shoulders; we gave him some pointers in how to make sure his position was correct. One of our suggestions was to talk to an expert at his local bike shop and have them measure him up and maybe sell him a shorter stem, he has done that and here is how he got on
Ever been in one of those situations where you have tried something and you think yeah this is “ok” but you still have doubt in the back of your mind about it not feeling perfect and you wonder if well “this is just the way it is” and then you try something else again and you think straight away now this fits and feels perfect without any doubts in your mind at all.
Well this is how I felt after I replaced my 100 mm stem with 6 deg rise for a 70 mm by 30 deg rise – I love it. Can I encourage any rider who feels as though it’s not quite right to go with your gut and get it right because it can make a huge difference no only in performance but more importantly in enjoyment of the ride.
Cheers

Hi Dean,
I’m glad we could help and really happy that you are enjoying you’re cycling again. Dean brings up some good points in his e-mail; you should not accept discomfort on your bike, its hard enough cycling without a bad position making it harder.
There is nearly always a solution to every problem; your position is the place to start before you take yourself off to the doctors. Dean has gone to someone locally who knows what he is talking about to get his position sorted out with a shorter more up right stem. He is now a happy cyclist, so if you have any problems please drop us a line and we will see what we can do.
