All-round Bike With Disc Brakes and Front Shocks

Allen wants our advice about an all-round bike with disc brakes and front shocks; we have a few suggestions to help him make his decision.

I am looking for a good all around bike with disc brakes and front shocks.

I ride trails mostly nothing real extreme. What do you suggest?
Thanks,
Allen Roby

Hello Allen,
It’s a tough choice to make, but its one of the nicest.

There is a big selection to chose from with the equipment you want, I suggest you read our review of the Trek 6500 disc, it has Manitou Axel forks and Shimano M525 disc brakes, so it has all you want.

Gary Fisher has a fine range as do Marin, many more than we can list here. The big bit of advice I can give you is to get as good a bike as you can afford and take as much advice from your local bike shop and shop around a bit, go to as many shops as you can, try to get a test ride, not all shops will let you do this, but ask you never know.

Good luck in your search, remember it can be as much fun (nearly) to choose your new bike as to ride it.
